Big data, which is huge size of data set obtained by a rapid progress of IT, have been considered as new kinds of resources that have great potential of developing several areas in modern societies. In Japan, we have failed to use big data for proper applications unlike other developed countries, and need to catch up them emergently. In my opinion, increase of the productivity by effective use of big data plays critical roles for future growth in Japan, as quite lower productivity in service industries has been pointed out as one principal drawback that holds Japanese economy in long economic depression.
In the center, we will develop methods combining data science with theories in economics and management to help solve the problems, and present the results through workshops and joint researches with collaborators in the world.
